Mary Sullivan was a 19 year old girl who moved from Cape Cod to Boston. She rented an apartment in the Beacon Hill neighborhood. In January 1964, a few days after she moved in, she was found dead. She was raped and strangled to death. She was one of 11 women who Albert DeSalvo, also known as the Boston Strangler, confessed to killing. Later he denied his confession, leaving doubts in the investigator's mind about the possibility that the real killer had been let off on the hook. DeSalvo was never convicted of any of the Strangler killings, but he was sentenced to life in prison on other rape charges. He was stabbed to death in 1973. For decades after his death, experts argued about whether he really was the Strangler or whether someone else…
The pre- killing was well planned out. “Erik and Lyle armed themselves with weapons on August 18, 1989, so that way two days later, they would kill their parents” Menendez v. Terhune (2005). “On that day, Lyle and Erik, who were the ages of twenty one and eighteen, tried to purchase guns at several different stores without getting caught” Menendez v. Terhune (2005). The first store they stopped at was in Los Angeles Menendez v. Terhune, (2005). They soon learned shortly after that handguns could not be purchased. They then headed to the second store location in San Diego, where they asked the brothers for their identification Menendez v. Terhune (2005). They knew that if they handed the clerk their identification it could hurt them in the long…

Fred Romano believes that the death penalty is not for revenge, but for justice. Romano found his newly-wedded daughter dismembered, abused, routed, and lifeless after she didn't answer his calls. Romano speculates that one day people will claim that the life without parole sentence is too severe, and a bill will pass that permits killers to get out of prison without parole. Romano strongly believes that the death penalty is justice for murderers. The death penalty reduces crime, wakes up society, and helps victims' families. The death penalty should be used to punished violent criminals.…
Bernie Sanders argues that the death penalty is not necessary. Bernie states ¨ The state itself, in a democratic, civilized society, should itself not be involved in the murder of other Americans.¨ Bernie is insisting that if someone has murdered multiple people then they should not be killed. I think Bernie is mistaken because he overlooks the people that only want to cause harm to others. While it is true that not everyone deserves to die, it does not necessarily follow that some people have a sole purpose of killing others. Ultimately, what is at stake here is killing one person to save others…
Lethal Injections is a series of immoral injections commonly used for Capital Punishment. The goal of the Lethal Injection is to eventually paralyse the entire body until the inmate is unable to breathe. These injections causes pain to the inmate, therefore the Lethal Injection should be abolished.…
The history of the death penalty can be traced back in time all the way to the fifth century B.C. through Roman’s Law of the Twelve Tablets, where people would be put to death through crucifixion, drowning, and even by being burnt alive.. From there it can be found in seventh B.C.’s Draconian Code, and even in eighteenth century B.C. through the Code of King Hammurabi of Babylon, in which twenty-five various crimes would lead to the death penalty (Part I, 2015). Though the crimes punishable under the death penalty and the methods of which the death penalty have changed over time, the ideology behind the method still stands the same: An eye for an eye. The argument for the death penalty stands that those who commit a crime such as capital murder should be punished the same way that they punished their victim: by death. However, while this ethical principle may sound clear and cut on paper, the stance-both for and against-and methodology behind the death penalty is much more complicated than that.…
In addition, the third issue with convicted criminals pleading for their fundamental rights is that by taking someone else’s rights away, the criminal forfeits theirs. The government cannot protect a person who has committed the worst crime. According to Social Contract Theory, once someone breaks the rules of the contract, they are outed from the protection of the law.…

Considering the death penalty is difficult for many people to do but would one consider it if it was their family that was victimized? Capital punishment has been a way to punish people for ages, and many countries still use this form of punishment on some of the worse criminals. Some of the main arguments for capital punishment include: keeping criminals off the street, reducing the crime rate, cost reduction for taxpaying citizens, and one of the most important closer for the family. One of the main reasons that people object to the death penalty in because of the fear that the wrong person could be convicted and put to death. Even though an innocent person could be wrongfully convicted, certain criminals should face the death penalty because it ensures the murderer can commit no more crime in the future and it installs fear in other potential criminals.…
One of the leading topics of debate concerning the issue of capital punishment is whether capital punishment existing deters criminals from committing serious and violent crimes such as homicides and sexual assault. This paper explores the findings and thought processes of some of the leading criminologists in the World and their interpretation of statistical data of homicide incidence rates. As I am exploring similar research in my paper, their findings can help me develop my own opinion on whether capital punishment is an effective and powerful enough deterrent to negate violent criminal activity or whether it would be prudent to avoid capital punishment altogether and follow an incarceration model such as that employed within Canada.…
