This is a technique by which you'll establish a mental link between you and the candle. Simply put, you will be filling the candle using your own energy and personal vibrations. Typically inscribed twice and on opposite sides of the candle. If you candle is square, you can carve the inscription on all four sides. Once the candle is inscribed it should only be used for that intended purpose.
This is best done within your magickal circle. Especially if this is a candle you will light each night when you come from work and state a prayer over it in a simple lighting ritual. Inscribing your candle inputs your thought, energy and intent into the candle in a focused way. You're basically programming the candle for the intended purpose, and lighting the candle turns on the release of that captured energy for manifestation.
Inscribing is often done with a tool of some sort. If you inscribe a candle you could use your Athame, a pin, a specialist scribing tool or anything else your imagination can dream up. Once you have chosen your tool though, dedicate it properly, then tuck it away in your magickal tool chest and reserve it for just this

In the Voodoo religion, a priestess hosts a number of different ceremonies each year. During these ceremonies, one of the people present (usually the priestess herself) is supposedly possessed by one or more spirit(s) who then communicates with the rest of the people present. A typical example of a Voodoo ceremony is that described in the book Mama Lola by Karin McCarthy Brown. Here, Mama Lola, as this voodoo priestess is known, lives in Brooklyn and does all she can to stay faithful to her Haitian religion. After inviting her voodoo ‘family' for what will be the birthday celebration of the spirit Azaka, all members, important and close gather to help set up the intricate and festive alter in the basement of Mama Lola's small apartment in Brooklyn, New York. While setting up the alter, they are sure to include only the things Azaka…

We could not go outside until six because the warriors of the tribe had to get the fire going, so until then the people congregated while I settled with the idea of all of us sharing the same blood of our ancestors. Once we were outside there sat the magodadamuk, which is what we call the native sweat lodge in my tribe’s language. It was made of old military tarps and next to the lodge sat the fire. The fire was surrounded by stones from the shores of Lake Michigan. To begin, the first part of the ritual is called the water ceremony. During the water ceremony we are praying to what my people call the “Great Spirit”. We all line up before the fire and are blessed with sage. Sage is wafted from our feet to our heads and then in front of our faces as a blessing. We need to be in our purest and most vulnerable state before entering the lodge. This means releasing our bad thoughts and bringing only good thoughts into the sacred…

As I walked through the Blacks in Wax Museum I was both upset and happy by what I saw. Going into the slave ship and seeing the slaves being branded like livestock and shackled one on top of the other really brought to life the struggle that the slaves had to endure. I don’t understand how the white people can think of the slaves as less than human, and at the same time want to rape the women. The Lynching Exhibit opened my eyes to how cruel people can really be. What hit home was the story of pregnant Mary Turner and her husband. They hung both she and her husband and proceeded to cut off his genitalia. When they returned and found that Mary’s baby was not dead they cut it out of her stomach. They then took two cats that were feeding on the…

Test your favourite 2 or 3 on one of your pulse points--your wrists. A pulse point is essentially a warmer spot on your body, you can tell where they are because your heartbeat is felt more easily there and your blood vessels are near. Why do you do this? It essentially keeps refreshing your fragrance all day long, as if you've applied and reapplied it. It will have a nice, strong, lasting presence, but it will not be overwhelming, and that's the goal here. Again, you're not going to get the full aroma if you spray it directly onto your wrist. Spritz a few full pumps a good 9 to 11 inches away from your wrist, and kind of move it around gently to "catch" the particles that are floating away.…
