Candyman Informative Speech
I recently hit 100 views today (yey for me). So I decided to look at my tags to see what my most popular was and it was horror. The ranking for the Wrong Turn films did pretty well (you can find it here if you have not seen it) and I enjoyed writing it. So I decided to do something similar plus I do like to read up on horror things so why not do a top 10 killers. For horrors I love the sub genre of slasher films so most of my chooses will probably be from them types of movies.

Please keep in mind that I am only going to put characters from films that I have seen. There will probably be some on here that you would expect most people to have seen that I have not. I do not own any of the pictures below, I get most of my images from Wikipedia and no infringement is intended.

10. Candyman- Candyman

I have not seen these movies for years so I may be a bit rusty. The candyman was always such a menacing person. His back story always freaked me out when I watched it. Saying Candyman three times in the mirror would summon him to kill you. The gore I can remember was pretty good and it is a classic he has to be on this list.

9. Victor Crowley - Hatchet

I movies are not straight comedies and although sometimes probably not trying to be funny they are. I do love these films. I think by third film it lost its way and needed to end. The kills are pretty good in these movies, the effects aren't that great though.I can always remember one scene in Hatchet 2 with two people having sex Victor kills one and it is so funny. I enjoyed the back story to this killer too and generally I do not like supernatural killers but I do like him. Kane Hodder plays Victor too and he is a Horror legend so it can't be all

My favorite movie character is Dr. Frank-N-Furter from the movie The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Frank is something of a mad scientist, bent on creating the perfect life form to serve as his sexual plaything. He seems to be the leader of the Transylvanians on Earth. Frank is mainly concerned with himself and lacks the ability to see the consequences of his behavior. Though he did bring out the sexual creatures in a young, repressed couple, he did this with his own amusement in mind. He commits murder and cannibalism without a second thought, as well as locking Eddie in a deep-freezer. (http://www.imdb.com/character/ch0010150/bio)…

Dracula. Frankenstein. Godzilla. These monsters no longer strike fear into the hearts of viewers as they once did. Formerly the villains of the classic "monster movie," these relics, who now represent all that is archaic in horror film history, move aside to make room for the newcomers. The monster movie of the past makes way for the thriller or slasher movie of the present, while the monster villain gives its role to the deranged psycho/serial killer. The Friday the 13th series, the Nightmare on Elm Street series, and more recently Copycat and Seven, have become the new classics in the genre of the horror film. With films like The People Under the Stairs, Nightmare on Elm Street, and New Nightmare, Wes Craven has proven himself to be a master of the creation of modern horror films.…

Horror films have been around since the 1920’s when Frankenstein and Dracula were created, Horror is a good genre to analysis because there are many sub-genre’, Slasher is a popular genre , recent slasher films are popular amoungst a younger audience. The American slasher film has its roots in an Italian genre called giallo which usually combines elements of the crime thriller with stalk and slash style scares. John Carpenter got the sub-genre off the ground with Halloween in 1978, and pretty soon films about teenagers being stalked by knife/axe/garden tool wielding psychopaths were popping up all over the place. The first Friday the 13th hit in 1980, launching one of the most prolific horror franchises of all time.…

Did You Know? That Skateboarding can help a person to improve in the areas of balance, flexibility, and coordination. It also helps to tone up muscles and to strengthen the heart. I believe that the more people know about skateboarding the more they will like it and try it out so that is why I’m going to tell a you a little about the history of skateboarding and the types of skateboards. The first skateboards were actually more like scooters, with the undercarriage consisting of roller-skate wheels attached to a two by four. Once the push bar of the scooter-like contraption was broken off, skateboarding was born. No one really know who invented the first skateboard because at the time in the 1950s a lot of people had the same idea and a lot of people were coming out with their own versions of a skateboard. Know a day’s there are a lot of different types of skateboards there is the regular short board it has a concave body style they use them to do difficult tricks and you see a lot of people doing stunts on them. Then there is the long board its another version of a skateboard and its longer they give you the feeling of gliding like your surfing their basically surf boards on wheels that you can use on land and then we also have what we call the slalom boards those are what a lot of racers use they can go up to 30 and 40 m/h and then their is electric boards their battery based so if you don’t want to push or do anything but steer the skateboard you have that option know. Ever since skateboarding was invented it has been through a lot of ups and downs in the beginning it was a huge success until about 1965 a slew of so-called safety experts pronounced skateboarding unsafe because of its rough body style and the fact they used clay for the wheels so there were a lot of accidents then in 1973 the urethane wheel was invented revolutionizing the sport. The new wheels provided much better traction and speed and, combined with the new skateboard specific trucks; it…

The slasher sub genre is near and dear to my bloody heart. The first horror movie I can remember I saw was, Friday the 13th that was so long ago to. I had to really think about this one. Well it didn’t scare me. I thought it was funny. Because of some guy running around killing people with a mask on and you know when it was going to happen because of the music. It did not have a story line and it was so unreal or fake.…

Most of the time, the characters have stupid reactions while dealing with the murderer. By example, in a scene of Freddy VS Jason, a girl teen escapes from Freddy in her dreams. She enters in a big room and hides herself in a locker thinking that Freddy will not find her. She is so noisy that Freddy easily finds her and kills her. Everything seems to occur by chances in horror films but is calculated in reality. For example, in Friday the 13th (Part 8), a young woman escapes from Jason in the woods, falls and finds a knife on the ground that she picks up to defend herself. The chances that it happens in the real life are very minimal. In a few words, the characters are often unrealistic by the way they act and the setting is too calculated. These things make horror films out of reach and very…

Deciding which of these movies is the funniest required me to create a criterion chart in order to break the films down. In order to adequately judge them each based upon a certain set of standards. The criterion I felt was most vital was the ending. Simply because I am an advocate in the saying it’s not how you start but how you finish. I feel as though if a movie does not have a smooth understandable ending, it takes away from the appeal to the film as a whole. Next is the authenticity if you’re going to be playing the “bad guy” you better have some compelling evidence to bolster your actions. After all who wants to see a bad guy that’s been puritanical his whole life? It’s like oil and water they just do not mix. Laugh ability is also a huge factor in judging comical film; I always ask myself how much potential does this movie has to make me laugh. Truly I enjoy deep uncontrolled laughter it really makes me cheerful. Last is the cast…
