Obviously, Capital Punishment would to some extent deter criminals from following through with a violent crime because of the fact that being sentenced to death to most people is significantly more severe of a punishment that a life sentence. If The Death Penalty is deterring criminals it is also saving lives. Some could argue that with the costs of lawyers and trials, this would be to say the least, the more pricey route, but who’s to put a dollar amount on a human life. This meaning, bringing Capital Punishment back into the judicial system and spending the extra money to start executing prisoners without chance of parole would in the end be saving lives. Growing up, every aspect of your life comes with decisions and consequences. Different things you do will eventually result in a different variation of punishments. If the consequences seems miniscule to you, then you'd be more likely to proceed as to doing the crime. This relates because everyone is scared to die, a death sentence is by far more frightening than a life sentence. The Death Penalty needs to come into effect because it basically will hold people accountable for their actions. The statistics that this idea of Capital Punishment are changing or persuading the minds of criminals away from doing crime is non existent. There hasn’t been one single stat, research or study that has proven to support the hypothesis of killing murderers will reduce crime rates. Putting a living human to punishment by death is just flat out inhumane, proven guilty or not. The eighth amendment rules against cruel and unusual punishment. An inmate sentenced to death row could sit there for ten years with endless amounts of court and lawyer fees adding up. Capital Punishment isn’t as much of an economical benefit as some think. Being that the costs really rack up if an inmate is getting trials for ten plus years. In the end, majoritively it would be cheaper to house the inmates than to sentence them to death.
