Although determining if a child has a learning disability is difficult, there are signs a person could look for to help. The same goes for teaching; they can learn Teachers just have to specialize in the best way to teach them. People like Kim Sweet says “this is fundamentally looking to change the way kids with special needs are treated in the city- they’re talking about changing the culture of all the schools in the city so that they can serve students that many of them were previously shipping out” (City Pushes 1). Some of the number ones Disabilities today are Autism, Aspersers, ADHD/ADD, and Down syndrome. In today’s world autism is growing more and more with each and every day. Dr.Gray Goldstein says that “Autism rates are rapidly increasing and the number is becoming overwhelming.” (Autism 1). Autism is a Pervasive Developmental Disorder. This means that Autism is a “severe and pervasive impairment in several areas of development” (Partner 45). Children with autism also have problems with socializing and interacting with others they have this problem because they do not understand Empathy. Empathy is being able to feel what another person is feeling. An autistic child has emotions, they can be happy and they can be sad, they can feel anger and frustration, they just don’t understand that other people feel the same way. They also have a hard time handling and expressing their feelings. Not being about to express feeling can be very frustrating to a person which causes kids with autism to often throw fits
