Tom Hanks, Paul Greengrass and Billy Ray teamed to tell the true story of Richard Philips a US cargo ship captain who surrendered himself to the Somalia pirates so that his crew would be safe. The movie shows how Lots of men and women risk their lives to make and deliver goods that some people take for granted. A world away, some other people covet what those goods signify. A few of those people become pirates. And, astonishingly, this movie is as much about them as it is about their victims.

Editing is meant to take some disturbing parts of the movie out but for this particular movie, I think it was not properly done some scenes seemed so graphic like where one of the pirates is cut on his foot by the pieces of glass which were on the floor as they were trying to find other crew members.
Sound being an important aspect in film making; it has been well used in this movie like when the pirates are approaching the ship in their small bout the sound the boat makes when running over the water makes the movie real and interesting. The sound made when the pirates ate arguing with the captain is tense at some given point showing the seriousness of the pirates when it comes to getting ransom when they hijack a ship.
