Car Accident
On a beautiful sunny September day in 2007, after a long and stressful workday, I took a left turn that forever changed my life. It was a day like most other work days. I was ready to get home, make some dinner, and get settled for the night - but that never happened. I picked up my cell phone to call a friend, as I did on most days after work. She and I chatted for a few minutes and then ended our conversation. I pulled out of my parking spot, turned right out of the parking lot, then proceeded to the next stop sign. While looking both ways I noticed a white truck in the far distance and proceeded to roll forward and take the left turn. As I turned I was t-boned on the front driver side by the white truck, which turned out to be a Ford F-450 commercial truck. All I remember hearing was the rumbling of crushing metal. Needless to say my beloved car that I had worked so hard for appeared to be totaled. All of my airbags deployed, my front windshield was smashed in, the driver's window was broken, my key jammed in the ignition, and I was unconscious. When I came to my first reaction was hysterics. I looked around for a minute, heard voices talking to me, then I felt an unbearable pain in my right hand. As I looked down at my hand I noticed that it appeared to be separated from my wrist. Moments later I heard a gentleman (firefighter) behind me telling me that everything was going to be okay and that he needed me to stay calm, not move my head, and that I was going to hear a lot of loud noise. That driver side door was jammed and the jaws of life had to be used. It seemed to take forever for the door to break away, but I was finally able to get out and into an ambulance for the ride to the hospital. The reality of the crash seemed to hit me as I arrived at the emergency room, and I was in complete shock. Thankfully my friends called my mom and family to let them know what had happened. I layed in the emergency room for what seemed like countless

Our car was totaled,…

As a young girl, I experienced what at the time I thought was the end of the world. Yes, I was a little bit of a drama queen. At the age of eleven, and on my way to a ballet recital a woman who was careless pulled under an awning in a non-parking zone in front of The Girls Club. I was running to catch up with my group. I looked left and right and proceeded to walk under the awing to the parking lot across from the building. From the corner of my eye’s I saw a white car pull up in front of me very fast. The momentum of the car pulling up that close almost made me roller over the hood. I put both my hands on the car, and pushed my self away. Stepping back on my right foot, my left foot caught under the tire. I screamed in pain, and yelled at the women to move her car.…

Irritated by my mom’s nagging, I mumbled nonsense between my teeth, and slowly buckled up my seatbelt. Then, I took out my earphones to enjoy my favorite music. My mother was trying to drive into the parking lot when all of sudden, a motorcycle suddenly came towards us. The man on the motorcycle was driving at a speed of approximately 40 miles per hour, and he was going so fast that he couldn’t control anything. My mom tried her best to change the direction of the car, but she wasn’t fast enough, causing the two vehicles to crash into each other. As soon as our car slammed into the motorcycle, the man’s body went flying into the air, and the motorcycle was knocked down to the ground. The man with dark brown eyes and a mustache deeply injured…

grandfathers house, it was a bit foggy, I must have been like 500 feet from the house when I was hit. You see, there is a main road the has a small gravel road come off of it, my Mom turned the car to branch off onto the gravel road, when a drunk driving a volunteer fire truck slammed into the side of our van - the side I was sitting in. Our van flipped into a ditch on the side of the road, and the truck was hardly damaged, I guess the gate openers on the front of the tuck helped. my Mom started getting really scared that the van would blow up. Se pushed herself out of the car, and got my sister and I out of the car. My sister had a gashed knee, and I had a cut neck…

Then we started down the steep hill and my bike speedometer said I was going 40 mph. I was looking ahead to see if any cars were coming and I came up on the turn to fast and I was braking in the corner which was a huge mistake. My back tire slipped out and I hit the pavement and started sliding but miraculously managed to jump on my bike when it was on it’s side and ride it into the curb. BANG! As soon as I hit the curb I jumped up and looked at my Knees which were a little bloody but I didn't think it was too bad so I got my bike to continue the ride and I felt a bumping when I was riding and realized my tire was flat so we pulled over to look at it. That's when we realized I had a bigger gash then we thought so we went to the fire station which was a few blocks away to get some hydrogen peroxide and they said I needed to get stitches. Unfortunately we had to headed back and dropped off our bikes so we could ride the streetcar to the hospital. While we were waiting I was walking back and forth and I walked like a zombie when I saw this guy walking in my direction. He got freaked out and ran the other…

On that particular day, instead of having a tiny chat with my sister, or a silly fight with my little brother, I was starring outside the car window, when suddenly I saw a black Toyota car spiral out of control, all I could hear was screeches and gasps! Mum quickly stopped her car; it was too dangerous to be driving in the middle of an accident. I saw a white female fiddle for her cell phone (I guess perhaps she was dialing the paramedics or something). I watched in awe as I saw the car flip upside down while a small figure then flew out of the car along with a broken car door! The worst part of this whole scenario was the fact that the passenger who flew out died within a matter of seconds after the whole tragedy. Bystanders crowded the dead body immediately, like a swarm of honey bees. Minutes later, people were not thinking of the late meeting they were heading to, or the petrol that they were shamelessly wasting. No, instead they were thinking of what could have caused this tragic accident. With a huge sigh of relief, the paramedics finally arrived and done what I believe would be their normal procedure. The cops were there too. They scouted the scene for any unusual evidence that they could find from the accident. I left the scene……

There was broken glass scattered everywhere. I saw the man's truck and it looked like the cars that they show in driving classes when they talk about drunk driving. I expected for it to be a hit-and-run, but I saw the other crashed car and my focus was on the woman that was inside. While my sister called 911 I saw the woman move from the driver's seat to the passenger seat, threw out a bottle out of the car and fell asleep. Immediately it hit me, she was a drunk driver. The man was breathing heavily and could barely keep his eyes open, but he was able to yell out a phone number for us to call his father. “They hit me! Dad, it’s Oscar! I’m gonna die on the street! I can’t feel my legs!” shouted Oscar. I could not hear the father's response because the ambulance had thankfully arrived to the…

While operating a motorcycle one warm early summer evening I was involved in a traffic collision with a local elderly couple driving an earlier model 1970’s Cadillac. Not only was this Cadillac very large it was also very heavy. The gentleman that was driving was not paying very close attention as he continued straight through the very busy intersection from a left only turn lane. As I approached the intersection from the opposite direction I became aware that this monstrous chuck, of fast moving steel, was not turning nor was it slowing down. I decided it was best to smash on my breaks and discontinue my left hand turn attempt. This I believe is what saved my life that night. My bike straightened…

Honestly I had no clue what to even do I was scared for my life at that moment in time. With my mom panicking and me not knowing what to…

About 8 years ago a memorable accident happened to me. As a high school student I couldn’t be more than excited to wait for the weekend. I got home that Friday after school and got ready for the night; it was the monthly relationship celebration with my boyfriend, so I had to look amazing. I left home at around 7 pm, everything was fine, and I was driving down Interstate 40 near exit 132 in my white Chevrolet-Blazer listening to music. I was anxious to know what surprise my boyfriend had for me, which restaurant we would go to celebrate, and what gift he had for me. Maybe I was driving a little bit too fast due to my excitement, when all sudden it felt like…
