One of the must common hazards of the roads is letting you get distracted by small things that you probably do nearly every time you sit behind the wheel of a car. In some cases, even more so with teenagers than any other group of people, other passengers in the car can distract you, you can get in a heated debate and begin to stop paying attention to the road and only to a passenger, fiddling with the radio is also another big one, I remember reading a story of a guy who reached in his backseat to change his tape and got in an accident and got killed because of it. Another big one is people see an accident and watch it instead of the road, sometimes almost causing them to become another accident. My mom once got in an accident by turning around for only just a second or so to see what my brother complaining about, the light was green when she looked back but quickly turned yellow, the car in front of her stopped and boomed, she hit it. It can only take a second or two of looking away to cause a dangerous situation that can be easily avoided. It can wait until the next red light or better yet when your…

Mary Midgley starts her article, "People and Non-Persons" by discussing the trial of two individuals who, in 1977, set free two dolphins utilized for experimentation purposes by the University of Hawaii's Institute of Marine Biology. One of the men on trial, Kenneth Le Vasseur, explained that he released the dolphins because they were suffering from both mental and physical harm. The defense team attempted to use the “choice of evils defense” which allows an individual to choose to commit a crime to avoid a greater evil or crime against “another”. The judge ultimately rejected this defense strategy because he stated that a dolphin was not considered to be “another” (as in a human), but instead should be considered property.…

Why is this a problem, especially for teen drivers?| I believe that all car crashes are horrible, dangerous for everyone involved, and most likely always preventable. There's a couple reasons why i think its such a problem, especially with teenage drivers because.... Crashes are the number one cause of deaths among teenagers. More teenagers die in traffic crashes, then homicide, suicide, drugs and alcohol combined. Although teenagers represent 7% of the licensed population, they are involved in almost 20% of all fatal motor vehicle crashes.I could go on and on with facts, but overall lack of driving experience, visual search habits, distractions, speed and space management, and a poor driving attitude is why car crashes are such a problem with teenage drivers. |…

Inexperience: Inexperience can cause accidents because people don’t know what they are doing and therefore can panic and cause collisions or can drive too fast for their skill level and cause collisions in that way. The worst thing people can do is drive to slow for example if someone is driving to slow they could merge into a roadway driving to slow and be rear ended. There have been many occurrences of people driving with inexperience and causing collision due to it. The easiest way to reduce collisions caused by inexperienced drivers is to have them start on a private road and a parking lot until they are comfortable in the vehicle then having them start driving in different conditions until they are comfortable enough to try driving with varying levels of traffic.…
