Carbon dioxide fire
Nombre del Proyecto: DIOXIDO DE CARBONO Y EL FUEGO (CARBON DIOXIDE FIRE)
LA PRESENCIA DE UN GAS QUE APAGA EL FUEGO (THE PRESENCE OF AN OFF GAS TO THE FIRE)

INTRODUCTION
This science project shows that not all gases are the cause of the fire, there are several gases that cause the flame is extinguished. Therefore we developed the first fire extinguisher ready and try to prove one of the most important gases in our planet's carbon dioxide. PROBLEM
It is possible that the presence of gas off the fire?

HYPOTHESIS
There are different gases that can turn off the fire.

MATERIAL

1. 1 Bottle of any carbonated beverage, unopened.
2. Matches. Baking soda (bought at the pharmacy).
3. 1 stomach effervescent antacid tablet (Sonrisal,Alka-Seltzer, etc.)..
4. 1 bottle of mineral water, closed.

INFORMATION

The presence of a gas that extinguishes fire (carbon dioxide), analyzing various sources of it.
When you turn the match there is a phenomenon called combustion, chemical phenomenon which produces much energy as light and heat. To maintain the combustion oxygen is needed which is a gas that is mixed with air and is very important for life on our planet. If there is no oxygen the fire goes out, as long oxygen around the combustion will remain and we heat and light.

By analyzing the gas ready to prove our hypothesis which is the chemical reaction between baking soda (a base) and vinegar (weak acid) is carbon dioxide. As is heavier than air, facing the match expels oxygen. Without oxygen the flame goes out.

When you mix baking soda and vinegar becomes an effervescence that seems fun during this reaction shows carbon dioxide, carbon dioxide is formed by a molecule of carbon and two oxygen and is in our lungs expel air when breathe in all combustion releases carbon dioxide that has the property to extinguish the fire.

PROCEDURE

PART 1
1) Open a bottle of sparkling beverage.
2) Bringing a lit match to the mouth

The police department or fire department would use chemistry to determine maybe a burnt house. What if a house caught on fire and it was because of a lightbulb and they didn’t know which light bulb it was. By leaving each different light bulb on and seeing which one gets the hottest you can determine which light bulb it was so you can put it on the report of the burning…

Oxygen, O2, is a kind of gas. A lot of the air we breathe as human beings is oxygen. Which is good since we need oxygen to stay alive. Oxygen is also a primary element in fire. Fire is a chemical process. Three elements are needed for this process: oxygen, heat and fuel. Without one of those elements a fire cannot start or continue.…

The very first experiment had the hypothesis that the temperature of a burner flame can be controlled by adjusting the ratio of gas to air in the mixture to be burned. During this experiment, my partner and I gathered our materials of the paper matches, straight pins, copper wire, laboratory burners, rubber tubing, tongs, and evaporating dish. Making sure we had our safety goggles on and the material we needed, we connected the Tirrill burner into the gas and lit the burner with the match, having the air vents closed and the gas on. When the burner was lit, we noticed that the flame had a luminous, smoky yellow appearance. We then used a pair of tongs to hold the evaporating dish towards the top of the flame for 10 to 20 seconds. We observed…

Mixing lemon juice with baking soda gives you a chemical reaction. The lemon juice contains citric acid. The citric acid from the lemon juice will donate a hydrogen ion (H+) to the bicarbonate or baking soda (NaHCO3). When the bicarbonate is mixed into solution, the bicarbonate acts as a base and takes the H+ ion from the citric acid to form carbonic acid (H2CO3) and carbon dioxide (CO2). Whenever a chemical reaction produces gas, it will be highly favored due to its large increase in entropy associated with the gas formation. In this reaction, you will notice the solution bubbling and foaming due to the CO2 production.…
