The healthcare system consists of many healthcare delivery models which are utilized in practice as a framework to assign workload to staff. Some care delivery models include total patient care, functional nursing, team nursing, and primary nursing. Each care delivery model has distinctive aspects. The team nursing model is a model that has been in practice since the 1950’s and continues to prevail as the preferred care delivery model in various areas of health care.     Communication is a very important factor within an interdisciplinary team.
