Each day, around 10,000 people who were born in the “baby boomer” era turn 65 years old (Garfinkel, 2017). After the age of retirement, the elderly population begins to rely on others for physical, social, financial, and emotional support. Age begins to take a toll on the physical and cognitive well-being of the individual, making it difficult to lead a self-sufficient life. When individuals are unable to adequately care for themselves and do not have sufficient full-time care from family or friends, care is received from outside sources. Adequate care is needed to provide a quality living environment for those who receive care as home-bound seniors, seniors in assisted living facilities, and seniors in nursing home facilities.
