Having cultural competence is something that is gained through experience with other cultures other than your own. This means understanding that different cultures do in fact exist and one must be aware that we are all different with different cultures. For me a time that I connected with a different culture in a work environment was a few years back when I was working as a driver and my assistant was an African man, very nice man, who was new to the job and I had to train him by showing him how things get done properly. When we would communicate it wasn’t that bad since he had studied the English language back home he only had some words that he couldn’t pronounce, so I would help him.…

You are looking for assistance to decide whether you should take the leap into entrepreneurship, or look for a corporate position. You appreciate the perks of a permanent corporate job: stable income, health care and retirement benefits, as well as the daily interaction with co-workers and clients. Although, you find dealing with the hierarchal culture exhausting, and these days the stability of a corporate job is not guaranteed, companies are consistently laying off even long-time employees and finally, the rigid schedule of a corporate job is tedious and not practical for many creative workers.…

How would you feel if a murderer escaped custody because he wasn't properly handcuffed and killed your family? Handcuffs are the most common form of restraint device used by law enforcement officers. Handcuffs can be made of metal or plastic. They have two hinged circles that open, then close to encircle the wrists, holding the restrained person's hands close together. The two wrist-cuffs are most commonly attached with a short length of chain, but might also be attached with a hinge or with a rigid bar. Law enforcement officers carry handcuffs on their utility belts, usually within a protective leather case (Hill). Here are some steps on how to properly arrest someone.…

The career of my choice is to become an FBI special agent in the Counterterrorism Division. Ever since I was little I was infatuated with becoming involved in law enforcement and to serve and protect my country in any way possible. The FBI special agent career has five divisions; Intelligence, Counterintelligence, Counterterrorism, Criminal, and Cyber. Counterterrorism is responsible “to detect, disrupt, and dismantle terrorist sleeper cells in the United States before they act; to identify and prevent acts of terrorism by individuals with a terrorist agenda acting alone; To detect, disrupt, and dismantle terrorist support networks, including financial support networks; To enhance our capability to quickly ascertain the reliability, implications, and details of terrorist threats and to improve our capacity to disseminate threat-related information to local, state, and federal agencies, and to the private sector as needed; and to enhance our overall contribution to the U.S. Intelligence Community and to senior policy makers in government by providing timely and accurate in-depth analysis of the terrorist threats and other information of value on an on-going basis.”…

We were introduced to this experiment with the statement that we were going to predict the number of rubber bands we needed in order to make a Barbie doll get as close to the ground without touching from a certain height that we would not know until the day of the jump. We were given two days, on day one we would test and then on day two we would be told the height and have to predict how many rubber bands we needed to make the jump.…

The career I picked for this project is a Biomedical Engineer. Biomedical engineers are employed in hospitals, in research facilities of educational and medical institutions, in teaching, and in government regulatory agencies. They often serve a coordinating or interfacing function, using their background in both engineering and medical fields. When working in a hospital the biomedical engineer may provide advice on the selection and use of medical equipment, as well as supervising its performance testing and maintenance. They may also build customized devices for special health care or research needs. While working at a research institution they supervise laboratories and equipment, and participate in or direct research activities in collaboration with other researchers with such backgrounds as medicine, physiology, and nursing. Some biomedical engineers are technical advisors for marketing departments of companies and some are in management positions. Some biomedical engineers also have advanced training in other fields. For example, many biomedical engineers also have an M.D. degree, thereby combing an understanding of advanced technology with direct patient care or clinical research.…

During my high school years, I was seriously thinking about being a part of the Military. I decided to go ahead and join while I was a junior. I completed my basic training in the summer after my junior year, than went to advanced individual training (AIT) after graduating high school. I wanted to join the Army because my father was in the Army. Since I was a child I have always wanted to be in the Military hearing everything that my dad talked about while he was serving. Ever since my first science class I knew I had a passion for biology. I would stay inside during recess and after school, absorbing all of the information I could gather about organisms from books and in the lab. I was enthralled and passionate about the world beyond my microscope and as I grew older, my interest flourished. When I participated in my first dissection in High School I became even more captivated by biology and realized that I wanted to pursue a career in the field. Originally, being a coroner had not appealed to me. It seemed more shallow and cold than accurate and cutting edge. Yet through research, I was able to get more of an understanding of the career of a Medical Examiner.…
