Education is the most important part of our lives and choosing our career is an even more important job. Choosing the right career is the most difficult task in the world. Career exploration research paper was all discovering my passion for a particular field. This project not only helped me find out my strengths and weaknesses but also help me choose the best career for me. Software developers (also known as programmers) design and build computer programs that help organizations and equipment work effectively.Software developer are sometimes asked to create a product from scratch according to a customer 's requirements. They work with a range of web-based technologies, and understand how databases integrate with the systems.Developers are often considered natural problem-solvers as they think outside the box and use analytical skills to solve the problems.Software developers work between 37 and 40 hours a week.They may be required to do overtime and weekend work to meet deadlines or to minimize disruption to a client 's business.In May 2012, the median annual wage for applications software developers was $90,060. The median annual wage for systems software developers was $99,000 in May 2012 and Employment of software developers is projected to grow 22 percent from 2012 to 2022, much faster than the average for all occupations. Labor Statistics [BLS]).Software developers (or computer programmers) are the great minds behind the designing, installing, testing and maintenance of software systems.There are lots of opportunities for software developers all across industry sectors because of the fact that businesses are so dependent on technology. About a third of all jobs in the IT space are in development and programming. The required education for software developers are a college degree in software engineering/computer science or even in information technology. Most developers begin their career with a bachelor 's degree, and then advance into supervisory or specialist roles with a technical master 's degree in software engineering or management information systems.Continuing education is a big element of software developer training. Professional certification in particular technologies or specialized software developer skills are a big part of this career. Although writing code is not the main job of a software engineer but they should have experience in programming and writing code. It is important for them to keep up with the latest inventions and advancements, because technology is constantly evolving. They need to have good understanding of subjects like calculus, plus courses in differential equations and linear algebra. A sequence in physics is also required. I love studying math and physics and i this career would be perfect for me as I have a great passion for computers and advancing technology.Advantages in theses field include good wage, comfortable work environment and it is the most booming industry. While there are many disadvantages as well such as jobs are outsourced to third world countries, keeping up with the new technology, working hours are not persistent and you have to sit infant of computer all day long and that can be pretty boring after some time. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics software developers should have Analytical skills, communication skills, computer skills, creativity, customer-service skills, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving skills.
According to Do what you are I posses most of these qualities for example; I thoroughly research information and collect relevant facts, I make thoughtful decisions based on practical considerations conducting organized, well-planned-out research. This shows I have analytical and problem solving skills. Moreover, I impress people with my hard work, and I am a good listener and do not dominate the conversation proving that I possess great customer service skills. Furthermore, this career is best for me because I have the ability to stay organized and efficient; And I can comfortably follow prescribed process. I can deeply focus on one task and have ability to stay on task and explore issues in depth. I am reliable and trustworthy. I am a visual learner and software developing is all about visual projects and bot so much about theories. I would fit perfectly in this job and I think I would love to be a part of this field. The career exploration project was all about discovering your true inner self and the job you would fit perfectly in. This project help me discover my strengths and what career will i fit perfectly in with these strengths. I would want to become a software developer because I love the subjects required for the degree and I have a great
passion for the evolving technology.
Moreover, the required job strengths perfectly relates to my strengths.
