Criminal Justice 101
Career Path Assignment
Ivy Tech community College
Willie Whitfield

My Path There are currently two options I have, one, to continue attending Ivy Tech Community college for the next two years, and then transfer to IUPUI, or my other option is simply to just finish out my Criminal Justice degree at Ivy Tech. I have not decided exactly which I option I am going to choose, however, I am leaning towards the transfer to IUPUI. I want to have an excellent education when I start my career because I do not want to stop at the first job I receive. Coming out of high school, I had no unearthly idea what I wanted to do in my life. Finally, after the years flew by, and maybe it’s from watching too many TV Shows, it just kind of hit me that I wanted to have some type of law enforcement job. I love the hard work it takes, perks as a police officer, intelligence, the chance to be able to save lives, the work force you would be a part of, and much more. My goal is achieve multiple promotions at my career and be at the highest rank I can be. I always have in the back of my mind though, that I have started school at such a later age than I should’ve, that I should just go for two years, then graduate from Ivy Tech and try my luck in finding a job. Then, if I can’t find a job, or better yet, do find one and find out for some reason I would not be able to get a promotion for some reason, I could always go back at a later time to receive a higher degree. What I would want to get out of my degree is a wonderful career in law enforcement. If being a police officer is the best thing that I would be, I could accept that and be with happy. I would love to climb those ranks and maybe someday receive something higher than a police officer. Anything would do however, I will be working as hard as I can these next few years of my life to fulfill my goals. Not going to college right out of high school may just have been the

My educational goals and plans involve criminal justice, human services, and vet science. I went to Niacc for two years to try and get my Criminal Justice degree. I took several classes for it, but fell short of money to finish what I needed to graduate. I have always been interested in T.V. shows like Criminal Minds and Law and Order: SVU, 48 Hours, and Dateline. Those shows give me the idea of what I want to do and who I want to be like. I don't know the destined occupation in that career field that I want to do. I would be okay with any job in that career field though. I have much respect for police officers and fire fighters. I always told myself I want to be like them someday. I want to be a hero to someone. I want to go the extra…

I've had my career planned out ever since I was a Freshman in High School and I'm still very excited for when I graduate HIghschool. First step of the way, is definitely graduating high school, that will be my first accomplishment. I want to go to to Cuyamaca College first and get an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. I'm going to to sign up for Cuyamaca this year so I can start taking a class or two during High School to get advanced. After I get my Associates Degree, I'm going to join the US Air Force Reserves. The reason why I'm going to college first is to go in as an E3 in the military and not an E1. One of many reasons why I want to join the Airforce is because I know all the benefits it has and all the open doors I can get to be successful in life, as well as extra money and experience for when I become a CSI. After I'm done with boot camp and my tech school, which will take around 4 months, I'm going to join Federal Police. I will be able to do that because I have a good record, I will have an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice, I will have MIlitary experience, and my mom is good friends with the chief of Federal Police. During the time that I will be in the Federal Police, I will slowly be working towards my Bachelors Degree and when finished, I will go into the CSI. I decided to pursue this career for me because It has a lot of benefits and have experience in many kinds of…

Having a commitment of impacting my generation has always been the guide of my career plan. This commitment among other reasons is responsible for my choice of course of study, Computer Engineering. As a youth, I realized that Science and Technology have phenomenally contributed both to the development and to the existence of humankind. Great many men, from different generations have left their names in the sand of time with their scientific discoveries, while yet many have achieved parallel feats by improving on such discoveries. Thomas Edison’s name can never be forgotten for his discoveries, one of such is the electricity. A name that readily comes to mind in this present generation is Bill Gate of Microsoft, who has achieved great feat in the field of information technology.…
