They can work over five hours or more as it can be anytime such as midnight. Naval pilot, nicknamed ‘Disney’ says, “ You’re flying at night, on a gorgeous, clear night. At 30,000 feet. With the night-vision goggles on it’s like flying through space” (Air Space Magazine). Navy Pilots do not work just in one place, they can be relocated several times from a naval base on the shores to an aircraft carrier out in the seas. As a result, many pilots get to travel all over the world since they can be stationed such as a naval base in Japan or Korea along with other countries with United State naval bases. Commander Ed Sundberg of a guided-missile destroyer says, “Our relationship with Japan is grounded in at-sea operations that we conduct with the JMSDF throughout the region” (The Diplomat). Naturally, this environment does lead to stress since the battlefield is packed with adrenaline-rushing events and unpredictability where things can change in just one second. Personally, I believe pride and logical decisiveness are key to happiness and successful since pride gives you a sense of accomplishment along with a reason to live while decisiveness is crucial in preventing mistakes. This career fits my personality because I enjoy adrenaline-rushes along with dynamic experiences and hate the idea of constant repetitive routines, explaining why I chose the navy because the job is never the same and I get to travel. Richard May, a United States Navy member, says, “However, most important is the guts to plough through an enemy or enemies, and fight it out [...] there is no surrendering. I know of no Navy fighter pilot in the war who turned tail and ran” (Sky God). I also chose this career because as a child I was always fascinated by anything related to the military. This career offers me many things to I value making me more determined to pursue it. It gives me a sense of duty and pride as a purpose to live, excitement as my environment is always dynamic and risky, and to feel free as I look at the world while soaring in the sky.
