For instance, their relationship is depicted with June as America sweetheart and Johnny as the troubled bad boy everyone loves. During the film Johnny stumbles from being under the influence of drugs. Both Johnny and Junes friendship is at a constant downhill battle. Although, June and her family assist him to detox from prescription pills. At this time they “seize the moment” and see it as a turning point in their friendship and relationship, as both of them are newly divorced. There connection becomes stronger than it ever was before and relationship blossoms.
Another example, in the film, as Johnny and June are seen bickering arguing because she doesn’t like Johnny’s use of drugs. Especially in the scene where she throws many empty beer bottles at a very intoxicated Johnny. In the end when their relationship seems lost they overcome the odds of his checkered past. Lastly, the Johnny shows great sacrifice in their relationship by getting his life back on track. As he knows if he does not change his lifestyle and give up his drug use, he will lose the girl of dreams.
