The Carpe Diem philosophy gave Knox the courage to call Kris up and talk to her, which resulted in Knox getting invited to a party. At the party, Kris’s tough and mean-looking boyfriend attacked Knox when he attempted to kiss Kris on the cheek. The boyfriend’s threats never stopped Knox from trying to get to Kris. Knox showed up at Kris’s school poem in his hand. Knox had the courage to read his romantic poem to her in front of her class.
