Carreer Fair Reaction Paper

Career Fair Reaction Paper If I were to say that I felt a bit overwhelmed when I first stepped foot into the career fair would be an understatement. Not overwhelmed to the point where I felt like turning around and running away or that I was lost for words, but rather overwhelmed with awe. I think some of the first things you think about when you hear “career fair” is maybe something dull and boring, or perhaps a company associate just taking applications or leaving you with some brochures to do your own due diligence. But the experience I had was quite the opposite when I was confronted with what can be summed up as a pack of hungry wolves. There was quite a large appetite for future externs and graduates. As I spoke with the different attendees I was very impressed on how professional and enthusiastic they were. I don’t think I was without questions about what they had to offer in regards to externships. It was exciting to be in the mix and hear about the profile and function of each business. Some of the employers were not accepting externships, but it was still useful to get a feel of what to expect in the future when seeking a potential permanent position. Overall the entire visit was useful because I now have a better grasp on what to expect in the future. I definitely feel that I’ll have more questions next time and won’t be as intimidated with every person trying to speak with me. It’s awesome to know that even in this downturn economy I’m becoming part of a growing industry and gaining skills that are being heavily sought after.
