First lets go over what is Cartesian Dualism. The theory that they mind and brain are two different things first arrived from one of the most famous philosophers named Rene Descartes. Descartes is a philosopher mostly knows for his doubt for everything. He doubted the existence of everything and even doubted that his body was real. Even though his senses show him that his physical body was real, he believed in something called the “Evil demon/Evil Genius” that controlled his senses and mislead him in what he was actually sensing. The only thing he did not doubt was his mind. My main reason that Cartesian Dualism is the question “How does a non physical mind control the physical body?”. Descartes says his mind and body are separated and are two different things. The mind is something that is non-physical, and that the body is something that exists physically. Whenever you’re stressed from something like school or writing a paper, side effects begin to appear on your body like grey hair, insomnia, headaches and more. If your mind is stressing you out, yet it is not the same thing as your physical body, how come it is able to cause symptoms like this? Once this problem emerges it begins to put flaw into Descartes theory of the mind and body being different. The masked man fallacy is a good example on why his theory isn’t logical to me. It makes sense because although two things seem to be different, it isn’t necessary two different physical
