Comic books are loved by children, despite the lack of options they have on the market today. Comics aimed for children should be made about them, so they can relate to the story similar to the method used when writing scripts for TV shows and movies. With the electronics on the market today, comic books have to compete for the spot of entertainment in a child’s eyes.…

“Almost Super” written by Marion Jensen, is a juvenile fiction book about superheroes and super villains. When you get a taste of the beginning of the book you will get addicted to it and can’t stop reading. The drawing that I’ve made shows what’s happening in the beginning of the story, with a keyword in my mind when I drew it, which is ‘disappointed’. This was about two brothers in a family of superheroes called the Baileys. Everyone over the age of twelve in the Bailey family gets a superpower on February 29th, at 4:23 p.m. and no one knows why they get their superpower on that mouth and that time. The boy in the drawing is Rafter and he is 13 years old and he was very exited on getting his superpower. So when it was February 29th, at 4:23…

*Sesame Street combines education and entertainment by using puppets, live actors and animation. The purpose of the show is to help young children learn letters, words, basic math, problem solving, socialization, life skills and real-world situations. The writers have written the show in such a way that adults and older siblings can enjoy watching it and help young children to expand on what the show is teaching instead of just placing the child in front of the TV.…

    Adult Themes in Cartoons

    • 1185 Words

Throughout time, more and more people have realized that cartoons have changed from something sweet and educational, to something more sinister and full of adult themes. Cartoons contain adult themes, but how many? It's believed that newer, or more modern cartoons will have more adult themes then ones aired at a later date, because of the more openness of today’s culture towards adulthood. By using content analysis, I watched two cartoons: two episodes of Adventure Time and one episode Pokemon in order to watch the same amount of TV. I watched the episodes and wrote a list of predefined adult themes: Violence, which is the physical abuse conflicted on someone you are not close to, adult issues such as internal struggles, parenting choices, lifestyle choices, Etc., sexual references, the use of anything sexual, pickup lines, sexual innuendos , provocative language, anything more sexually advanced then a child should be speaking, language, anything provocative, or extremely offensive, substances, any kind of drug, illegal, tobacco, alcohol, Etc., nudity, anything showing that is restricted by school dress code, or not normal for children to wear, very short skirts, or revealing tops, stereotypes, anything stereotypical, dangerous behaviors, anything that could convince child to do something that could cause themselves, or others injuries, or could be fatal, abuse, verbal, emotional, or physical attacking of someone they know, or are close to, such as a mother hitting a child, or a child bullying another child, and religion, anything depicting, or hinting towards a certain religion, such as the characters being inside a church, or saying God openly.…

Boy Meets World was one of my favorite childhood sitcom; it shows ethical decisions that needed to be made in the era. The sitcom has multiple angles and perspectives of different issues and life lessons. The main character Corey Matthews goes through life long journey with struggles and mishaps with family and friends. Boy Meets World shows how the “average” teenager is life. During the time of the show, the Matthews made is seem that the most important thing in life was family and friends. This sitcom shows personal, historical, technical, ethical, cultural, and critical perspectives.…

    Pollitical Cartoon

    • 808 Words
    • 4 Pages

This political cartoon displays two children hiding under their classroom desks, hands over their heads in a fetal position. The desk on the left says “1950’s” where as the desk on the left says the current year, “2012.” Both children claim to be hiding for a specific reason, the boy of the 50’s claims it is because of the Russians, while thee one on the left states that it is because of his fellow classmates. The message that the illustrator is attempting to convey is that the problems children of the 1950’s faced are very different than those that today’s current younger generation face on a day to day basis. At the time, the major issue that children, as well as people of all ages, faced was the threat of a potential bombing of the US by the Soviets. Various ‘duck-and-cover’ drills and maneuvers were practiced by the majority of schools, just as commonly, if not more often than todays rehearsed ‘Fire Drills.’ The illustrator is saying that, in comparison, the biggest issue that most kids and teens face in 2012 s bullying. In fact, a recent study shows that 90% of 4th through 8th graders report being victims of bullying, and 282,000 students attending secondary schools are physically attacked each month. Something as minuscule as bulling should not be as large of an issue then it is.…

There are many different opinions on this show, many parents are ok with letting there children watch it and other refuse to do so because of the kind of humour some parents are on edge. So is family guy a negative influence on children? I believe it does have a negative influence on kids.
