Focus:
Social media refers to the means of interactions among people in which they create, share, and/or exchange information and ideas in virtual communities and networks. Since, Political and Public Administration are rooted in public life.,with social media’s rapid explosion, it is unsurprising that public organizations are following the trend and deploying sites to reach people where they are.
We can see the most opportunities for citizen engagement and participation via social media. There are chances for coproduction, crowd-sourcing solutions, transparency and accountability, and real-time information updates. Say, Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign, which is the first on applied new social media with garner voters successfully. Communicating via new social media technology, however, has become a significant part of American political processes offering a mass of citizens the option to participate in Public affairs. With the positive implication on civil affairs, there come the negative attributes.
