In Layla’s case, there is conflict with her father’s side of the family and she does not know any of her aunts, uncles or cousins, she feels like she doesn’t belong and the fact that she struggles at school while her brothers excel in everything has an effect on her self-esteem and confidence. Children need the influence and love of people that can teach, guide them and interact with (Brand A, 2024). When they interact with aunts and uncles, Layla would begin to understand more about where she comes from and who her parents are, which in turn influences her own identity. (Brand A, 2024) In Layla’s case study, I feel that Layla does not have enough support from her older brothers and dad. There is no-one else at home who is trying to help her, except her mom, whose time is limited. I am also of the opinion that Layla’s mom and her teacher, are not communicating effectively to get her the necessary help that she deserves. Both their methods, are not effective, thus it would be imperative to get Layla the professional help, which she needs.
