The US Army is a unique organization providing protection to a nation. I agree with you about it being in the maturity stage for naturally, it has no competitors! So, all its resources are geared towards providing the best for the country. In matters of beuracracy, it is common knowledge that the Army is top-heavy and characterized by a lot of "red-tape" in its vast operations. Albeit, the Army is non-profit, its dependency on taxpayers is interesting since they are the major benefactors of military operations(not forgetting PMCs). I also compare the US Army with other armies to qualify its maturity stage. A good example is the Soviet Army which was at the height of its maturity during the Cold War and the its subsequent death
