The purpose of the film trailer 2012 is to advertise the film and increase the margin of potentional viewers thus increasing profit margins. The film is generally directed at men who are usually associated with liking action movies and this is a action film. Although the film has a few genre's mixed in the prominent genre is definitely action as it has a lot of montage clips showing buildings falling down mass destruction overall apocalyptic situations. This film is ground-breaking as it features a lot of things people have never done before in a film i.e. Monumental buildings crashing down and being destroyed, entire countries capsizing, meteors crashing down onto a motor home with half of it being destroyed. This particular montage creates a want-to-see effect as it looks epic. Another want-to-see effect is at the start of the film trailer when copy says “Mankind's Earliest civilisation” “Warned us” this particular copy makes the audience wonder what they warned us about. “This day would come.” The image used at this point is of a solar eclipse which could be an emphasis like saying all-hope-is gone - light is fading- God has deserted you – We are forsaken.…

Direct cinema has had a great influence on the film industry since the 1950s, when portable sound equipment became available to filmmakers. This allowed them to experiment with location interviews and realistic lighting which easily captured natural emotions or reactions of the subjects. Filmmakers had the advantage of being up close and personal with the individuals being filmed and considering this, direct cinema was sometimes named cinéma vérité.…
Compared to Hollywood films, independent films usually don’t achieve a high amount of success (except for maybe one or two like The King’s Speech). They usually have a low budget and can sometimes not be as profitable as mainstream cinema because they are usually independently funded. However, because of the slow introduction of platforms like ‘Kickstarter’ and ‘IndieGoGo’ (which offer the public to be able to fund different ideas such as films), independent films are slowly starting to achieve the success they want once more (such as the Veronica Mars movie that was recently funded).…

We all watch films, and documentaries. Generally, we learn some things from them, but can we be sure what we learned is true, and objective? If the films compare and analyze the context (religion, language, etc.) well, we call these kinds of films as ‘ethnographic’ films. A simple question can be appeared in our minds: which films are the ethnographic films? We will try to find an answer to this question with discussing the intentions, the wholeness and the ethics of ethnographic film-making.…
In the Canadian Film industry there are numerous major players, some of which are supported by the Canadian and Provincial governments and others are independent companies. In this paper, we will take a look at the structures in which these firms function as well as their roles within it. The government of Canada has a strong support and purpose for the film industry and we will take a closer look at some of the motivators for these actions and how they seek to do so. The objectives of the government, politicians and bureaucrats involved and how this came to be a strategic industry will also be examined. The performance of each of these players will present burdens and benefits to the policy community and the industrial policy for the Canadian film industry itself.…

In today's fast paced, technology filled life it is easy to forget that the world in which we live in was not always this way. It is hard to remind ourselves that at one point in our history, there was no electricity, women always wore dresses, and men were, without a doubt, on a higher status level than women. Heritage films or costume dramas help to remind audiences what life was once like and what the everyday thoughts and ideals were that surrounded communities. Heritage films not only serve as a visually pleasing treat to audiences, but also serves as a reminder to where we have been as a society and as individuals before us.…
