Point Loma’s community living agreement sets forth the guidelines by which students must abide. It sets tough expectations for those attending and applying because as college students, it is very easy to get caught off guard and because of the freedom that comes with a college experience, it can sometimes be difficult to always do what is right. When entering into agreement with Point Loma, students promise to be integral people; it poses a challenge because as a young people we are still learning good Christian virtues. One of the greatest aspects of the community living agreement is the strong encouragement it gives the students to maintain their faith. By following the rules, it guides us to make better choices in school and everyday life…
In Irving, Texas, the minutes of 16 February 2017 were divided into 33 different segments. The first two segments were updates for prior operations in the city for environmental and economic growth. The third to sixth segments were approving and reviewing prior meeting minutes. The seventh to the twenty-seventh were resolutions on costs for the development and maintenance of the city of Irving. The twenty-eighth segment was to adjust the budget for this year. An individual hearing followed for a fee/charge would be placed on Atmos Energy if they used streets, alleys, and public ways in the area of Irving. Next was two zoning cases and one companion item of the ability to create a fence. Finally, the mayor adjourned the meeting to an end. For the majority of the meeting, the cases heard would impact the life as a resident on a daily basis indirectly since they would be affiliated with the development of the city. Only a few of the cases would have little to no impact on the livelihood a majority of the population in the community versus a single individual.…
The community that I choose is Kingwood, Texas, this area is located in the north area of the City of Houston, located mainly in the Harris County with a small portion of Montgomery County. The boundaries for the Kingwood community are the roads: North Park Drive at north, West Lake Houston Parkway at west, Highway 59 and the Loop 494 on the east, and FM 1960 at the south; the San Jacinto river runs through the…
Clarence Earl Gideon was a man that was wrongfully convicted of a crime. Clarence had a bad background prior to the trial. His record prior was that he had felonies, and he was in jail for four times already, and he ran away from home, and was found with some stolen clothes on. His background didn’t make it easy for him to be found guilty. Gideon was accused of stealing wine, beer, money, and Coca Cola from the pool room. The charges that were brought to him was Petty theft. The evidence the state used against him was that he was seen by a witness breaking into the pool room. The sentencing that Gideon got was 5 years in a working prison. Gideon’s first trial was not in his favor, because he did not have a lawyer defending him, and he didn’t…
Chino Hills saw its first use back in 1771 as land used for grazing cattle that belonged to the San Gabriel Mission until being sold to Richard Gird in 1848 after Mexico ceded it to the United States. The city began to see a population growth in the early 1920’s when both a mineral springs and a country club were both built in the city. The mineral springs were built in an area of the city known as sleep hollow otherwise known as carbon canyon. The springs became a getaway from the big city and soon saw small dwellings being built around it. In the 1960’s the springs became a constant hang out for hippies and many permanent houses were built during that time to accommodate those that would hang out there. Unfortunately today they springs are no longer open but many of the houses still remain. The Los Serranos country club was opened in 1925 which allowed members to buy small lots of land around the club on which many members would build cabanas or casitas for weekend getaways which led to future more permanent housing.…
Would you stay at Valley Forge? I would stay at Valley Forge because only 15% of people died, there is help coming, and because of the inspirational words of Thomas Paine.…
The Alamo Mission in San Antonio also known as Mission San Antonio de Valero is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in San Antonio, Texas. In 1716, the Spanish government established several Roman Catholic missions in East Texas. The nearest Spanish settlement, San Juan Bautista, Coahuila was approximately over 400 miles away thus making it difficult to keep them adequately provisioned to assist the missionaries. It was then declared that San Antonio de Valero would be served as a new mission. Father Antonio de San Buenaventura y Olivares was in charge of the mission which was located near Coahuiltecans.…

The massacre killed over 900 innocent individuals, 276 of these innocent people were children (wkipedia.2016). The San Fransisco temple building gained the attention of the media in which seven different magazines reported the incident, it was reported to be “The greatest single loss of lives since 9/11” (Richard Rapaport.2003). The event of the mass suicide became one of the most popular events in the United States within a few hours (daily news. 2014). in 1979 the media predicted there was 120 brainwashed civilians waiting to attack on america. This statement was untrue as the government discovered, although there was a backup plan in place incase this event did happen (wikipedia. 2016).…
You will often hear phrases such as “Remember the Alamo”or “Remember Goliad,” but do you know what they really mean? During the fight for Texas Independence there were many battles. Although some of these battles may not seem to of made an impact on the war, the places their impact landed may of made the most radiant impact of them all. This impact dwells heavily in the heart of all Texan soldiers. These phrases aspired soldiers to fight for their brethren who have been maliciously slaughtered by the hand of the enemy.…
For my entire life of schooling, both my parents and I would agree that I constantly complained about the educational systems in which I was enrolled. But when I actually take the time to think about everything I have been through, I realize that I have indeed had an excellent education. My schooling was full of opportunities and experiences, all of which contributed to the person I am today; adequate education has been an indispensable facet of my being. Sadly, not everyone has had this same privilege. And now as a college student, I am becoming even more aware of this sad fact. Looking around me in such a diverse city as Chicago, I find myself being more and more grateful. When I read Jonathan Kozol's Fremont High School, this these feelings were even more reassured.…
This memo evaluates proposed land use options raised by Oakmont City officials. An assessment of the financial and non-financial implications suggests that building a parking garage with fees favoring short-term parking potentially yields the most desirable outcome. This investment produces the highest net present value (NPV) and helps solve a parking space shortage. Earnings generated by the garage should be used to offset negative externalities associated with the project. Further analysis into the impact of price hikes on parking utilization, and the types of parking spots that will improve the current shortage is needed to strengthen this assessment.…
In order for Casa San Ysidro to be relevant in the community it serves and ensure that it is on people’s radar, we recommend that Casa San Ysidro forge local partnerships. One of the ways that this can be accomplished is by getting involved with the University of New Mexico and Central New Mexico Community College (CNM). We recommend building relationships with professors at both institutions that can then create assignments that welcome students to visit Casa San Ysidro. Students would then write a paper or give a presentation to their classmates about their visit to Casa San Ysidro. This program can help raise awareness of the museum as well as encourage students to invite their family and friends in the future. This is similar to how Astronomy classes create extra credit assignments to visit the Very Large Array in Socorro, New Mexico, Art classes…
The History of Mission San Francisco de Asis On June 27th, 1776 Father Palon and Pedro Cambon, ten Christian Indians driving pack mules, and almost 300 head of cattle arrived at the Arroyode los Dolores which Anza and Father Font had selected for a mission site. They put up a camp, erected an arbor (gazebo) as a temporary chapel and on June 29th, 1776 Font celebrated mass. This was the beginning of California's sixth mission.…
Sanaa’s relaxing weekend has turned into a long one. She finally met yesterday, her host dad Garett. He was super nice and made her feel at ease. They drove around the city at night and Sanaa could sense Garrett was really tired. She felt bad but he was the one who insisted that she has to see the city at night. Garett was right, the city is beautiful. Washington DC is a mix between a huge city like New York and a small town like where Sanaa grew up. She was surprised to see how quiet the city is by night, especially a city like Washington DC, where President Barack Obama resides! Garrett showed Sanaa Staples Center: the place for sports events and concerts, plus the biggest movie theatre in Chinatown.…
