A server located further away increased the time it takes for a player’s actions to be registered by the server, which causes lag and delays in the gaming experience. Anybody familiar with video games will find that even a quarter second delay in response time can greatly detract from the gaming experience. Furthermore, increasing the number of users will slow down server response times, which only further adds to a possible delay. There are two options – find a cloud based server in Russia, or to purchase and maintain their own physical servers. While the first option is simpler, ThunderGatez would need to analyze how reliable Russian companies that offer cloud servers are.
