It keeps a keen eye on fresh developments in veterinary medicine, especially pioneering discoveries, procedures and techniques that will enable their students to have the best knowledge that they can have. UPCVM has been offering a six-year DVM program that includes a two year preparatory veterinary curriculum from the College of Arts and Sciences, followed by a rigorous and extensive professional veterinary curriculum from the College of Veterinary Medicine. The preparatory veterinary curriculum is instituted to equip the students with 76 units of preparatory courses in communication, science, and socio-political knowledge. It also includes basic courses in philosophy, physics, information technology and botany, as well as advanced courses in chemistry, statistics and zoology. These courses are prerequisites in basic veterinary subjects and also in the National Veterinary Admission Test (NVAT), which is administered by CHED to regulate and standardize the entry of students to proper veterinary courses. It may not have produced numerous mediocre graduates, but it surely has produced a few graduates with a broad veterinary knowledge and experience in various fields that exceeds expectations. UPCVM has performed excellently in the Veterinarian Licensure Examinations administered by the Veterinary Professional Board of the Professional Regulations Commission. UPCVM had an examinee passing rate of 93.10%, 92.16%, 94.29%, 87.80% and 97.78% during the 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 veterinarian licensure examinations, respectively.
