As the client’s parents want to include multiple approaches such as a gluten free diet, other diets, floor time, and sensory integration, it is important to listen to the ideas of the parents, but also educate them on ABA techniques (Bailey & Burch, 2016). Schreck and Miller (2010) explain that although floor time is something that people are talking about it lacks adequate experiential validation to ethically use the method for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Behavior analysts must not only follow the Behavior Analyst Certification Board’s code of ethics, but they need to have effective interpersonal communication skills due to the constant communication with clients. An ABA’s first priority is the client, and this must be discussed to the parents. The ABA should ask to speak with the client’s parents and explain the interventions that should be used to help their child and the scientifically proven evidence that supports the treatment plan. All of the information given to the parents should be in a language they can understand an allow the parents to ask questions. Then, based on the treatment plan, the number of hours that ABA therapist believes that will be most beneficial for the client should be spoken about and based on those hours the plan can be created. If the parent’s do not agree to the number of hours, it should be explained that they may not see the results as quickly or as effectively in doing
