George is a college student working a summer job on the overnight shift in the production of milkshake mix at Eastern Dairy. The job is highly important to him because he is making great money in comparison to previous experiences and he is intending to save the money to help cover expenses once he and his significant other, Cathy, get married and he returns to school. When making an ethical decision using this philosophy, a person would consider what was best for the group, even though that decision may have a negative impact on a smaller group, or a lesser negative impact. An example of this would be if a person is leading a large group of people in a race. There are two prizes given, $200 to the leader that gets to the end fastest with at least one other team member, and a prize of to the team that gets to the finish with all the team members of $200 for each member.
