The final section of my Philadelphia University portfolio represents the specialized skills and knowledge that I have gained during my time here as a student. When I began my journey at Philadelphia University in Health Service management I was unaware of the major problems that impacted the healthcare field and my goals first were to apply for the states Administrator-In-Training program after graduation. Thereafter I wanted to complete the Administrator-In-Training program hours at my current job Elkins Crest Nursing Home. In the final analysis, I hoped to become an Administrator or an Assistant Administrator for Extendicare Health Services within the next two years. Working at Pennsylvania Hospital has altered my views slightly. I would like to stay within the Pennsylvania Hospital network and be an administrator.…

I will be working and living in a state that is very animal friendly, with many groups actively helping animals medically and to find their forever homes. “No Kill Los Angeles is an initiative led by Best Friends Animal Society to turn Los Angeles into a no-kill city by the year 2017” (http://nkla.org/About). The initiative brings together animal shelters and welfare organizations in the greater Los Angeles area to aid the cause. NKLA will be a great place to work or volunteer my time, and my resume will continue to grow as I check off these milestones over the upcoming years of my life. It all begins with getting my foot in the door of the animal world. I am on a great path thus far with getting into college, getting a dog behavioral job at a canine daycare, and now being a Veterinary Technician Assistant at an animal hospital. I am excited for my future career, and the next few years of my life will greatly impact the way I get…

I finally got that position as a program manager with SWFAS (Southwest Florida Addiction Services) that I had a lot of interest in. The program that they offer to clients is one that I am very interested in. The program offers help to all people who have chemical substance addictions. The organization conducted a needs and problem assessment and found that the need to open a new program for people who are addicted to prescription medications. We are putting into effect a theory to apply a practice to help the program. The inputs that we are using to establish intervention to our clients is one that will be monitored closely. Our outputs are that we are going to provide counseling to people that struggle with prescription drug abuse and give them the necessary tools for treatment. We will establish evaluative research to the program and measure it on the success that our clients have. We will use descriptive research on the part of the program that has success and see which parts work the best. The purpose of evaluation on the program is to enhance all of the parts of the program that are working for us. We are using service delivery model to turn our inputs into outputs for our program. And then we will evaluate the outcome by seeing how much our program is actually helping our clients with their addiction to prescription drugs. I just want to say thank you for letting me know about this position. You really helped me out a…

Benjamin Franklin once said, ‘without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning’. I wholeheartedly agree with him; it would be meaningless to continue on a path that does not yield any positive change. This experience is one I can describe as worthwhile. I have observed tremendous growth in multiple areas. I have attained a level of confidence that I never thought possible, as the time elapse I realize that my passion for helping has only evolved. I admit it is challenging having to get up every morning unaware of what to expect, sometimes eager to start the day but more often than not feeling weary. Fortunately, I understand that life isn’t always bright and sunny, in fact, it has been…
