In 2011 when Mayor Nutter instituted a stricter curfew for teens, Nijmie Zakkiyyah Dzurinko, executive director of the Philadelphia Student Union, told the Philadelphia Tribune:
Not all large or small groups of students lead to violence. Individuals who break the law should be dealt with on an individual basis. Collective punishment targeting a small geographic area is not going to solve the root issue.
This is important because all young people in the city are affected by the curfew. However young people are not allowed to have any say about the law. I believe that curfew laws can be both good and bad. One reason i think curfews can be good is that teens shouldnt be out between 12:00 a.m.
