the department and calmly sit and wait for their appointment time. Not so in the Internal
Medicine department. The Internal Medicine department was a fast pace department where everyone worked together as a team. I can recall one afternoon in Internal Medicine a patient by the name
Donna came for her appointment. I learned very quickly it never fails when Donna comes for her appointment there is going to be an outburst or some kind of drama. Donna is a Behavior Health patient who is rude, demanding, and very impatient. After registering the patients in my line Donna decided she wanted to disrupt my day by cussing at me calling me names, talking about my hair and clothes. I did not pay any attention to her. I was very proud of myself as I continued to do my work with a smile on my face.
However, ignoring Donna just was not going to work. Donna leaned over the counter into my face and yelled “I am going to kill you” if she saw me on the street she was going to run me over with her car. I quickly moved away from Donna and stood to my feet as I watched Security and Coordinating Supervisor nurse pull Donna into one the patient’s room. One of the staff members came to me to inquire about my welfare. I was a little disturb but fine. A few months later I woke up one morning with Bell’s Palsy and I requested to be transferred into a different department.
