Commitment to Clean Energy.
Intel has made a commitment to purchase REC Certificates for all its US Energy Use. REC represents economic rights to the production of renewable electricity generation. REC helps buyers in procuring renewable power across a diverse region.
Since 2013, Intel has been purchasing REC’s to hedge 100% of all its United States Electricity Usage. Intel has also committed to reduce its Greenhouse Gas (GHG) by 10% per unit from its 2010 levels in it Sustainability Roadmap.
Intel has also tied up a portion of its Employees Bonus Compensation towards conservation of Energy in its day-to-day operations. Intel has allocated $30 million towards operational efficiency to meet its goal towards …show more content…
“Conflict-Free” Minerals mean minerals which are mined in a responsible manner by legal entities and not controlled by armed groups as in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This will make sure that armed groups are starved of economic resources which will result in reduction of violence. Also mining in conflict zones are also marred by numerous Human Rights violation for the workers involved. NGO’s operating in the Democratic Republic of Congo have already reported that Working Condition have drastically improved in the DRC with remuneration increases and improvement in labour working conditions. Women on an average have accounted for 25%-28% of the total workforce for Intel. Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has studied as to how gender equality could impact the economic growth and labour force of the G20 countries. The below infographic shows the increase in labour force in G20 if reduction in the gender gap in participation rates of 25% by 2025. This assumes incredible importance especially in countries like Germany and Japan where average age of the population has been on the decrease in the past decade which has had a negative effect on the workforce size. In such times increase in the labour force as postulated by OECD will provide relief to the industrial organizations in such nations especially as there is local resistance to importing labour from outside. This will also allow such nations maintain their economic competitive landscape. OECD also states that if gender parity is achieved by 2030 it would add 0.6% to the growth rate of GDP per capita with a GDP expansion of
