The Associated Students Inc Children’s Center is situated directly on the California State University campus. It serves students, staff and faculty members with children between 6 months and 5 years old. Priority enrollment is given to the student families. There are three preschool classrooms, each with an adult to child ratio of 1:7. The purpose of the center is to teach children to be self-sufficient and become the leaders of tomorrow. They provide a support system that facilitates the children and adults learning to take care of their own needs, wants and desires. Collaboration is practiced between parents and teachers to assure proper care is given to each child. The observation was conducted in the outdoor playground as well as the classroom. When entering the classroom, to the right there was a small sofa surrounded by books. To the left was an area for dressing up as princesses or princes with a mirror to see oneself. In the center of the room was the learning area where the students sit and learn with the teacher. There was also a table to cut magazines and paste it on papers to nurture their creative side. To the far left corner of the classroom was the place to eat meals, to allow children to have the nutrients they need to last throughout the day. Next to that was another table for doing crafts.
