Detroit is one of the most important cities in Michigan and the United States. Detroit is the center of American motor industry and is the birthplace of Motown. Detroit is also home to four major league sport teams. However, one team is infamous for being the worst in their respective sport. This infamy belongs to Detroit’s football team, the Detroit Lions. Founded in 1930, Lions are owned by Martha Firestone Ford and play at Ford Field in downtown Detroit. The Lion’s colors are Honolulu Blue, silver, and white. By coming in last the Lions got their first pick of fresh players from college looking to prove their worth in the NFL. The Lions used this opportunity to draft their current quarterback Matthew Stafford. With the addition of Matthew Stafford, the Lions were able to utilize their previously drafted wide receiver Calvin Johnson Jr and transform him into the all-star that he is today. Through the years the Lions have been steadily improving eventually making it to the playoffs. The Lions ended the 2014 season on a high note but sadly there was trouble waiting in the coming pre-season. The events of the pre-season of 2015 demolished the Lion’s defense at its core. The Lions lost their defensive powerhouse Ndamukong Suh to the Miami Dolphins. However, Suh was replaced by a Super Bowl winning player, Haloti Ngata. With a more seasoned defensive leader the Lions are hoping the loss of Suh will not affect the team.
