Case Study Trader Joe
Trader Joe also realized the value of his employees to the successful implementation of his vision. Efficient and industrious employees willing to foster the desired atmosphere could not be obtained and secured by offering wages commensurate with other grocery stores; therefore, in the 1960s he implemented a wage equivalent to the median household incomes based on the local cost of living. (Palmeri, 2008). Trader Joe realized the value of identifying leaders from within the organization. As a consequence of the realization, the employee hierarchal structure was created whereby almost all top level positions with a store are promoted from within.
