English College Research Paper The two colleges I am considering attending are West Virginia University (WVU) and Fairmont State University (FSU). These colleges are at the top of my list because members of my family have attended both these schools and I have family that lives in that area of West Virginia. I like both Fairmont State and West Virginia. They both have the things that I am looking for in a college, but of the two, I am leaning to West Virginia University. I am leaning to picking WVU because they have the special type of engineering I want to pursue and Fairmont State does not. The special type of engineering I am interested in pursuing is

I chose Fairmont State because my Grandma lives in Fairmont. So, I could live with her and drive to the school which is only ten minutes away. Fairmont State University is a public institution that has a total undergraduate enrollment of 4,112, its setting is urban, and the campus size is 120 acres (“Fairmont State University”). It utilizes a semester-based academic calendar. The in-state tuition and fees are $5,824; out-of-state tuition and fees are $12,288. Fairmont State University offers a wide variety of graduate, bachelors, and associate degrees. Fairmont State has programs in business, education, teaching, architecture, and criminal justice in addition to 90 baccalaureate courses (“Fairmont State University”). The mission of FSU is to provide opportunities for individuals to achieve their professional and personal goals and discover roles for responsible citizenship that promote the common good. With a 120-acre main campus in Fairmont, West Virginia, FSU is part of the state’s growing high technology corridor, including a metro area of about 50,000 residents (“Fairmont State University”). The FSU main campus is within a short drive of larger cities such as Pittsburgh, and has many opportunities for outdoor recreation in West Virginia. FSU serves a 13-county region with facilities. FSU offers many evening and online classes to accommodate non-traditional students. With an …show more content…
Fairmont State is a very nice campus and one of its advantages is the tuition price. For one year at Fairmont State you pay, $12,288 and for one year at West Virginia it is $19,632. So, as you can tell, West Virginia is a whole lot more expensive than Fairmont State. Another plus to Fairmont State is that my Grandma has a house that is ten minutes away. That is nice because staying at her house will significantly lower the price of living. One thing I also like is the town of Fairmont; it is similar to Morgantown, a nice city with country all around. That is good since I am an outdoors person and both places have that option. Something else that I considered is that my mother went to Fairmont State. She went there and got an undergraduate degree in accounting and economics. She was involved in many college activities such as, cross country running and was a freshman counselor; she also was a founding member of the Student Accounting Society at the college. She had a very good experience there and she was offered a job from one of her professor’s right out of college. So, not only did Fairmont State prepare her for a career in accounting, she was also offered a job right out of college (Henderson Denise). Overall Fairmont State is a good college, with a nice community surrounding

Sure taking away a schools right to receive financial aid is a great deterrent, but that doesn’t help the student that has been harmed by the release of their information. The best way to explain the reason why a student can’t sue is to explain the case of “Gonzaga University v. Doe, 536 U.S” June 20, 2002. The United States Supreme Court stated in this case that the university can be put in a position of not reporting a non-moral situation, possibly allowing crimes to be unreported if they feel they may be sued over the reporting of a sex crime. The courts stated that the FERPA law does not create students’ rights that are enforceable. The courts state that the FERPA law only speaks to the Secretary of Education, and only covers university…

As a community college student wanting to transfer to a university upon completion of my Associates Degree, I have started to look at different campuses. Naturally, once I began researching the schools I wanted to attend, I had to take many different factors into consideration. Some of those factors are: Location, culture, veteran preference and specific programs for my major. I already know that I will be attending a university in the state of Washington. It has always been my dream to head back up to the Pacific Northwest, and what better way to do that than by furthering my education. I also already know what my major is: Meteorology. After many different sessions, I have narrowed the choice down to two universities. I will be comparing these two institutions, The University of Washington and Washington State University, and which one will satisfy all of my needs.…

I'm attending Spoon River College for many reasons. I have chosen three reasons why and they are as follows. First reason is it is a smaller college than most colleges and universities in the area. The second reason is that they offer the same classes at Spoon that they offer at the other schools. My third and final reason is I don't have to travel out of town for my classes yet. These are the reasons i will be describing in the following paragraphs. Spoon River College has the most respectful, helpful, faculty that a school can have, i think. The instructors at Spoon River College are a lot more helpful and understanding than those at the other schools. They also help you pick out your classes which is also helpful.…

They have a unique cost-cutting education system where you pay by the semester, not by each credit. So as you complete each course and then add more within that semester, you can actually reduce your overall cost for that degree. There are also savings found when you do not have to take additional certification classes and tests outside of your normal tuition, because it is all included. Another cost saving piece is that the school provides all the course materials for free, the books for each class is provided electronically. You save on commuting, as well as room and board which can also add to the bottom line of your education costs. The value of going to WGU for a top quality education is an undeniable benefit to you and your family, and should be a major factor in your…

The college that I decided to research is called Florida International University or FIU for short. I feel like this college is appropriate for me because many of the amenities available fit my liking. The school has a very large campus and plenty of students to make new friends with, and is located in the heart of Florida. Florida’s weather is similar to Arizona’s, with the exception of humidity, making it feel just like home. There are many extracurricular activities at this college such as sororities and fraternities, a radio station, student council, and much more to keep me busy outside of my studies. This college also has a minimum GPA of 3.4 or greater, allowing me to be surrounded by students who value their education just as much as I do. I think FIU would be a great college for me to consider applying to because it has much of what I look for including size, location, academic and extracurricular programs.…

My mom graduated from there and although I am not seeking the same degree she has, I thought it would be neat if I graduated from the same college she did. UCA is known as a big party school and I was in for a big awakening. It requires a great amount of discipline and motivation to pass your classes. There are certain people who can live the life of going out every weekend, cram all of their school work into a couple days, and work like a dog so they can have money to live off of. I had two of these three qualities down pat and I ended up paying for it in the end. I dreaded work but I still went because I knew I needed money in order to get from point A to point B and of course I needed money to fund all of my party shenanigans. I dreaded my eight o clock classes which I had every single day of the week, so instead of realizing how important it was to attend my classes I chose not to…
