RESEARCH PROPOSAL

I. Research Title : A Research on Cashiering System in BEC Setting.

II. Researchers : Helen H. Arellano & Helen H. Arellano

III. Project Duration : September to October, 2012

IV. Implementing Agency : Batangas Eastern Colleges

V. Cooperating Agency : University of Batangas-Batangas City, Lyceum of the Philippines University, La Salle-Lipa and other Colleges within Batangas Province as may be needed as part of the research.

VI. Brief Description of the Project

: This research project is focused on the cashiering system of the Batangas Eastern Colleges, on how the researchers will be able to cope with the ever-growing number of students and consequently more transactions are being processed. At this moment, the cashiering systems together with other accounting systems are being done manually and so the researchers are urged to make a research proposal to obtain more knowledge and to design strategies to make a better system.

VII. Significance of the Study : In our generation so many things are different. The advent of technology has changed the way we live, work and spends leisure time. Computer was considered the lifeblood of society; they are everywhere. And the advancement in discoveries, both in hardware and software, keep coming, day in and day out. Technology changes and improves at a rapid pace and companies and institutions have cope with it. This is because as the latest knowledge of development in computer technology grows people’s standard increase. They seek and crave for better and more efficient ways to accomplish tedious task. At the present time, people behind large and small companies adopt modern technology in order to survive and compete with markets demands. Also, through the use of this technology, different transactions and processing systems have become computerized for greater ease and accuracy. Likewise, through technology, information is easily obtained hence, people tend to rely less in manual operations. At BEC setting we have a registrar’s office that needs to simplify the application process; a Cashier’s office that needs to make billing reconciliation easier; and a student that needs to effectively manage relationships with students and the community. It's a complicated mix of needs that has to be delicately orchestrated to be effective. There are a lot of moving parts, and there's a lot at stake if you don't get it right. Finding The Appropriate cashiering system, getting everyone working together and solving these key issues is a whole lot easier. VII. Objectives of the Study 1. To elaborate the present cashiering system at BEC 2. To show the implications of Manual cashiering system in BEC setting 3. To find the appropriate cashiering system in BEC setting. VIII. Definition of terms

1. Cashiering system – systems used to receive payment from and process charges for students, employees and the general public. 2. Cashiering softwares – applications that allow centralized receipting management by handling payments and associated receipts in a counter setting. 3. Electronic Cashiering System – Application of Cashiering softwares. 4. Manual Cashiering System – Manual encoding of data, data are transferred through Network places, flash drives and other storage devices for other uses or reconciliation.
