Catch Me If You Can
Gladis Rodriguez
Block:3
02/26/15 Catch me if you can Many of us know might not know Frank Abagnale Jr. He became notorious for impersonating a pilot, a doctor, and a lawyer while in his early 20s. He was arrested at 21 by the French police, and later hired by the FBI to teach them his fraudulent tricks. They made a film about his life which is “
Catch Me If You
Can
”. Frank Abagnale Jr. was born on April 27, 1948, in Bronxville, New York. He was one of four children born to parents Frank Abagnale Sr. and Paulette
Abagnale. In the movie they don’t clarified this and just come out as an only child. After getting caught, the cops realized he could help them with money forgery. He worked for the FBI. In the movie they tell us that he was successful but never said he started his own consulting agency, educating corporations, financial institutions and government agencies. Today he has associated with the
FBI for over 35 years. He lectures extensively at the FBI Academy and for the field offices of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
I personally like the movie because it is very interesting. It shows us that although he acts older than his actual age there are times when, as a teen, doesn’t know what to do. I dont think that he would commit a crime like that now because he has a lot of money and everybody knows who he is. It would be harder to get away with a crime like that again. In the year of the movie they didn’t have today’s technology and Mr. Abagnale could get away with certain thing but now would be harder because we have more security and can use anything to find a suspect.

There are many cases like the one of Mr. Abagnale. Wichita Falls police arrested one man in a case involving attempts to cash forged checks at several businesses this week. The cases have involved male suspects going to businesses and trying to cash checks from a company called Labor Ready. A representative of Labor Ready in Wichita Falls cited

In September of 1993, Christopher Simmons broke into the suburban St. Louis home of Shirley Crook with the intention to rob and possibly kill her. Simmons and a friend tied the victim up with duct tape and drove her to a nearby state park. At the park, Simmons pushed the victim, who was still alive, off of a bridge and into the Meramec River where she drowned. Simmons was 17 years old at the time of the murder. Before the crime, he had told several of his friends of the plan to burglarize a home and kill the occupants, noting that they could do it and “get away with it” (not get charged for it) because they were juveniles. 1…

Criminal record checks are high in demand for decision makers to predict future unwanted behaviors during employment screening. Employers conduct background checks on job applicants for several reasons. One reason may be to confirm their moral character. Another reason may be the desire to assess their risk of committing crimes that could cause somatic, monetary, and reputational damage to the company. Consequently, if a person has had their record expunged then it isn’t protecting the company at all, it only allows them to see what they would like. Background checks act as a filter for the ideal candidate, for companies that rely on the screening, because you can’t trust what can be hidden.…

Being an FBI agent is a difficult task, and grueling occupation, but yet it is respected and can help and protect all people. Not just anyone can become an FBI agent; it takes a lot of hard work, skill, and dedication to accomplish this goal and be able to do this job. The FBI addresses and investigates major crimes where the fugitive has crossed state borders or fled the jurisdiction in the United States. Attorney General Bonaparte first started the FBI in 1908 during the time Theodore Roosevelt was president. When first opened, the FBI actually had no name and was just known as a “special agent force.” The future of what is known today as the FBI was the direct result of the Interstate Commerce Act of 1887. Progressive was given to the department of justice by creating special agent’s corps and law enforcement was often called a political rather than a professional. During the early period of the FBI’s history, its agents investigated violations of mainly bankruptcy frauds, antitrust crime, and neutrality violation. Also during World War I, the Bureau was given the responsibility of investigating espionage, sabotage, sedition, and draft violations.…
