During Rob's campaign Talisa encounters Catelyn making one, the older woman later explains that only a mother can make them while praying for her children4. Catelyn has been seen making two of these wheels, the one mentioned above and one for Bran when he fell. Catelyn makes these two rings when she perceives her children are in extreme danger whether it be from natural causes or other people. This may lead to the conclusion that Catelyn is only devout when she perceives a threat to her children that she cannot prevent herself. Though this is countered by the third prayer wheel she made, truly it was the first one. When Jon Snow was young he has a pox, Catelyn stayed up with him during the most critical night and made a prayer wheel. At first, she thought it would be best if he died but then decided she didn’t hate Jon but his mother4. This act not only strengthens the argument that Catelyn has always been devout especially so in times of distress but also the argument that she is a representation of the Mother.
