The Causes of Stress Stress is a condition that everyone encounters at one time or another in their life. It is unavoidable and is responsible for many negative effects on the physical and emotional health of a person. But what is stress? “Stress is a normal physical response to events that make you feel threatened or upset your balance in some way” (Stress Symptoms, Signs, and Causes). This definition is an accurate way to describe how many Americans feel when it comes to stress. However, small quantities of stress can have a positive affect to motivate and encourage people to be more productive. Still everyone can agree that a great deal of stress can be very destructive to a person’s life. According to many physicians, stress can cause people to have many physical, behavioral, cognitive, and emotional symptoms (Stress Symptoms, Signs, and Causes). Yet people wonder why stress occurs? In today’s society the main causes of stress are produced from work, financial issues, and academic pressures. It is important to have the knowledge of common stressors so that people can devise a plan to overcome them.
The workplace is a very common place to encounter stress because it is where people spend most of their day. In addition, this type of stress causes many people to become overwhelmed and create anxiety (Stress Symptoms, Signs, and Causes). To most people their job is their life work considering they got educated or certified to do it. However, many obstacles in the workplace such as: difficult coworkers, deadlines, and strict management can generate stress to anyone. Working with other people always causes stress for the reason that people do not always see eye to eye. Also, it does not matter where you work there is always some sort of deadline that needs to be met. That is why time is very valuable in the workforce because it is what many people rely on the most; however, when that is tampered with it causes stress (Northern). In addition, if employees
