Causes for the popularity of fast-food restaurants In 1972, United States spend three billion dollars on fast food, but in 2010 this number change to $165.000.000.000. Only Mc Donald’s feeds more than 46.000.000 person every day. Fast-food chains spend big amounts of money every year on publicity to give people the option to have a quick meal for a low price. People do not care if what they are eating is healthy, because they are too busy working. The popularity of fast-food restaurants has grown in the last years because they are convenient to get, they offer a variety in menus and they have a fast service. Fast-food restaurants are convenient for anyone at any moment. People can find a fast-food restaurant in almost every corner; where there is one, there are usually others as well, which gives them different options. This is very convenient for people because they do not have to go so far to get food. Furthermore, many of today’s fast-food chains offer delivery service, and people do not need to leave their house to have something to eat. In the same way, almost every fast-food restaurant has the option of drive-thru, so people with little time to eat do not have to leave the car to buy food; and this service does not have any extra costs. With the drive-thru many fast-food chains add the 24/7 service too, so the restaurant is close but people can get the food at every time on the drive-thru. One of the main characteristics of the fast-food restaurants is their low prices. People can find a good quantity of food for a cheap price. For example, four persons can eat for less than $20 on chains like Taco Bell. Furthermore, fast-food chains are always offering special offers at great prices.
