After this the attention was no longer on the people who were against the war (since they were jailed for looking as if they were a threat) but was now focused on the socialist party as a whole. During the time, mass paranoia broke out and many people were accused of having communist affiliation, when in reality did not have any type of affiliation with communists at all, and never did. There were mass investigations to find out if one was a communist or not. There were many people during the time, that would work for the government and go undercover as communists to seek out the real communist.
