Causes Of The Cato Conspiracy
In 1739, a young runaway slave had gathered together a group of men who wanted to be free, and able to function as a normal person among other citizens in America. It would later become known as the “Cato Conspiracy,” the group had invaded a warehouse filled with weapons and ammunition to help supply their cause. They had also gathered together clubs, bats, and any other means of protection while they journeyed further south. Their trek was by no means an easy one, much opposition were there to impede their cause of trying to be free away from the hardship that many plantation owners had bestowed upon them.
Many lives were lost during their quest for freedom, overseers, bounty hunters, and independent white vigilantes, were also in pursuit
