One of the causes of the Civil Rights Movement is that the black people were discriminated against. For example, The black people would be …show more content…
forced to go to the back of buildings in order to enter, such as if they needed a pair of jeans and the jeans were in the front of the building. The black people would have to go all the way around the back and to the front of the store just to get a pair of jeans. Another example, the black people would have to move to another seat if a white person was wanting their seat. They would have to get off the bus if there were no other seats available, and there would sometimes not even be a seat on a bus to sit so they sometimes would pay their money and not even get a seat. Plus according to “Leon’s Story”, the black people would have to get on from the back of the bus. One more example is there were different water fountains for the black and white races. According to Google, The white water fountains were always much nicer than the black peoples water fountains.
Another cause of the Civil Rights Movement is there was a lot of violence.
For example, there was and still is a group called the KKK. They believe that white people are the only race that is good and any other race should be killed. For another example, a lot of white people beat up the black people for no reason. In the book “Eyes on the Prize” there was pictures of black people after they got beat up. One more example is the white people would release bulldogs on the black people. In the book ”Leon’s Story”, it says that Leon was walking out of a store he was working at and he got into a situation where there was a man with bulldogs and the man almost released them but luckily, Leon climbed to the top of a pickup truck and the man said, “ I will stop the dogs if you are able to climb up the tree over there.” And then there was nothing done about the violence.
One of the effects of the Civil Rights Movement is the laws were changed. For example, the water fountains now have no signs or rules to anyone where they have to go to a certain water fountain. For another example you can sit wherever you want to sit and stay on a bus. One more example, black and white people can go through any door they like or the same as white people.
As you can see, the Civil Rights Movement is an important thing in American history. The black people were beaten, discriminated, and violence happened before the Civil Rights Movement. One of the effects of the Civil Rights Movement is that the laws in the laws changed. There is still some discrimination in the world. Now, will you end
discrimination?
