Yes i think it was but first what was the french revolution: The French Revolution was a revolutionary movement that shook France between 1787 and 1799 and reached its first peak there in 1789. Hence the conventional term “Revolution of 1789,” denoting the end of the ancient regime in France and serving also to characterise that event from the later French revolutions of 1830 and 1848.
Though many people believe that the French Revolution was only caused by one major influence , an this may be true, i personally do not think it was only one reason i believe it was caused by a variety of reasons, an the following are what i stand to believe it was started by.
Taxation
Absolutism and privilege
American Influence
Food Scarcity
Land
People having no choice
National debt
Ideas of enlightenment
There may as well be a whole lot more, but these are the only ones i have found an agree with.
Taxation,Absolutism and Privilege is a important and agreed as a cause for the revolt by nearly all,many French people had reason to revolt for those two causes as the king; king Louis XV| was under absolute rule, which ment he could make any law he pleased without calling parliament, thanks to himself and wife Marie Antoinette luxurious life and countless binge spending the country was running low on money which ment time to raise taxes.But the fine print behind king Louis taxes was that he would only enforce tax on peasants, wage earners, and the professional and business classes. Which is were privileges came in, king louis gave amenity to taxes and compulsory induction to army service to the nobles an the clergy, even though they had far more money then peasants an because of that they were healthier.
Taxes were extremely unpopular, as their was various taxes with high prices, an example of one unpopular tax was the ‘gabelle’, this was were it was contracted out to
