Both groups were well know objectors to WWI, and to the minds of many Americans therefore, unpatriotic. This led them open to attack. Any activity even loosely associated with them was suspicious. Many people left without jobs after the war agreed with these socialists and the government feared that this would lead to a revolution. Strikes and protests began to occur and this threatened many Americans. Despite the absence of any violence or arrests, the strikers were “immediately labeled as Reds who and charges that they were trying to incite revolution were leveled against them.” Hysteria struck the city as department stores, grocery stores, and pharmacies were flooded by frightened customers trying to ensure that they would be able to survive a prolonged strike.

Which sadly in this tragedy both Sacco and Vanzetti had their lives cut short. Their lives could have been easily been saved and avoided their death. Simply by the court choosing the right amount of evidence to prove thoroughly that there was even an actual crime committed in the first place. Many people to this very day believe their lives were just used to spread fear amongst the U.S nation to prove they were serious and meant business when it came to the idea which can cause the spread of communism. However that is no justification to their somewhat of public execution only to be scapegoats to the real issue being faced at hand. However from this unjustified incident it helps paved a way for a better justice system we truly do
