Causes Of Tybalt's Downfall In Romeo And Juliet

Love is a dangerous thing. Love has the ability to cause either terrible tragedy or great happiness. Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is a good example of this. In the play Romeo and Juliet’s love eventually leads to their downfall. However it is not exactly Romeo and Juliet’s fault. Tybalt is responsible for the final outcome because his irrational behavior lead to multiple conflicts. Tybalt’s aggressiveness towards the Montague family causes the death in the family. When we are first introduced to Tybalt, he is shown to have a strong hate towards anyone related or in the Montague family. During the Capulet party Tybalt whispers, “Patience perforce with wilful choler meeting, Makes my flesh tremble in their different greeting, I will withdraw: but this intrusion shall, Now seeming sweet convert to bitter gall.” (A1, S5, 62-66). Tybalt plans to get revenge on Romeo just because Romeo crashed the party. This later leads him to getting Romeo banished, which is one of the reasons Romeo died. At the Capulet party, Tybalt refuses to listen to his uncle. Tybalt whispers, “It fits, when such a villain is a guest, I’ll not endure him.”(A1, S5, 20-24). This eventually leads to Tybalt attempting to murder Romeo and eventually getting him banished. Romeo being banished causes Juliet to become suicidal. Due to Juliet’s emotions, her dad tries to cheer her up by getting her married to Paris. When Juliet refuses, Lord Capulet says, “Hang thee, young baggage, disobedient wretch! I tell thee what: get thee to church o' Thursday, Or never after look me in the face. Speak not; reply not; do not answer me.” (A3, S5, 70-79). Because of this Juliet ends up faking her own death. Eventually leading to her actual death due to Romeo’s banishment. Tybalt’s attitude killed his own cousin and her
