I found Sean Higgins article titled, “States rethink occupational license rules” compelling, considering that licensing rules prove to be more harmful than beneficial economically. From a statistical standpoint, it would appear that no one ultimately benefits. However, one item I wished Higgins addressed more in-depth concerned why we still have licensing regulations if they’ve continually been proven to be harmful. I concede he stated that most justify it as a public safety precaution, which makes sense for certain fields. My concern, however, is why we have licensing…

In the United States of America, the criminal justice system is based on the adversarial system or common law system. An adversarial trial allows the accused or defendant to be given a fair chance to prove his or her innocence. The Sixth Amendment of the United States Constitution states that the defendant is to be given a fair chance to oppose the prosecution, have witnesses to help with his or her defense, face and question the complainant, and for his or her case to be heard by a group of people who are unbiased and impartial. This group is known as the trial jury.…

Would the average person want to live a life of fan worship, fame, and glory but live a short life? This is how the Roman gladiators lived their lives. Gladiators were Romans who would fight against each other, sometimes even to the death for the purpose of entertainment. Youth unemployment, which encompasses individuals in the age range of 15 to 24, is the demographic that is the most likely to be unemployed. This can often be attributed to the difficult time youth may have transitioning from school to work, especially for those who have neither experience nor education to secure a job in the current labor market. The purpose of this report is to discuss the current youth unemployment rate, comparing it to the real unemployment rate, comparing it to the U.S. youth unemployment and any trends that are either occurring because of the youth unemployment rate, or that are influencing the youth unemployment rate.…
