When Ferninand die, a series of events that culminated in the world 's first global war. There were many causes for why the world war begin. The rise of nationalism, imperialism and militarism were the three things that led to war because they created way more rivalry than the one that European countries already had, they wanted to know who was best, who deserved the best. First of all, nationalism developed a fierce rivalry among Germany, Austria-Hungary, Britain, Russia, Italy, and France.. These powers were called as the Europe’s great powers. The nationalism of these countries throughout Europe contributed not only to the beginning but the extension of the war in Europe because they want to prove the power they have and the dominance that they can reach. Secondary, imperialism is another major cause why ww1 started, it occurs when European nations begin to compete fiercely for colonies in Africa & Asia for political, economic and ideological interests, and occurs when the countries wanted to increase their wealth and also their power by taking under control territories as they can. And the last cause was militarism who policy was the glorification of military power and keeping an army prepared for war, Germany had the most increased military buildup, and Britain tried to increase their navies too, so the military start to have a big influence on the public policy. A set of alliances had been signed by countries between the years 1879 and 1914, the first start when Germany and Austria-Hungary made an alliance to protect themselves from Russia, then Austria-Hungary made an alliance with Serbia to stop Russia gaining control of Serbia and then comes the triple Alliance between Germany and Austria- Hungary made and Italy to stop Italy from taking sides with Russia, and then arrives the triple entente among Britain, Russia and France that agreed not to sign for peace separately and to counter the increasing threat from Germany., then
